Back to School: Real Test May Be Before Bell Rings

Thousands of Arkansas kids head back to school Thursday, and for many parents and students, that means stress. Dr. Dawn Phelps Doray, a clinical psychologist with UAMS and Arkansas Children`s Hospital, offers up some tips: try to prepare for and anticipate your child`s needs ahead of time (pick out clothes and get backpacks ready); 2. keep calm... a parent`s stress can rub off on kids; 3. spend at least five minutes after school talking with your children about how their day was.
