Clemency Petition Taken To Governor`s Office

A Conway woman has delivered a petition to Governor Huckabee objecting to the way he handles the clemency
process. There were 13-hundred and 63 signatures on the petition, which Janice Brown dropped off at the Governor`s office in the Capitol. Brown said the petition was in response to Huckabee`s July sixth notification that he intends to grant clemency to two
convicted murderers, Dennis Lewis and Glen Green. Huckabee said later in July that he would alter the way he grants clemencies. Huckabee also denied Lewis` clemency request and said he would take no action on Green`s application. The Governor was not at the office Brown delivered the petition at lunch time. Huckabee spokesman Jim Harris said Brown should have called first.
