District Judge Dies

US District Judge Stephen Reasoner of Little Rock, who served 16 years as a federal judge in the Eastern District of Arkansas, has died. Reasoner had a heart transplant May 17th and never fully recovered. He died Saturday evening at Baptist Medical Center. His wife Susan and son Brian were at his side. He was 60. Reasoner was appointed by former President Reagan, and began serving as a federal judge in April 1988. He succeeded William R. Overton. For several years, Reasoner suffered from congestive heart failure. And in September 2002, he announced he was certified medically disabled and taking senior status. Visitation will be tomorrow evening at Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock. Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Burial will be at the family gravesite at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Dickinson, Texas.
