Arkansan Murdered In Africa

Updated: January 7, 2009
An El Dorado man working for a contractor for Exxon Mobil was killed this week in Africa`s Equatorial Guinea. Jayson Scott Lowery`s body was apparently moved from the murder scene. His body was found in a neighborhood where American oil company executives live and work. Lowery`s nametag was displayed prominently on his body. Investigators said there were a few bruises on the 29 year old`s back and neck, and one forensic expert said Lowery may have been poisoned. Officials have ruled out theft as a motive because Lowery was still wearing his watch and expensive shoes. Lowery`s grandmother, Peggy Lowery of El Dorado, said it was the engineer`s second trip to Africa. Survivors include his wife, Selena Nale Lowery, and three daughters, ages 8, 6 and 2.
