Son Sentenced To Life In Mother`s Assault

A Benton man was sentenced to life in prison today after he was convicted of robbing his mother and trying to kill her with a kitchen knife. Fifty year old James Lacefield was convicted of attempted capital murder, aggravated robbery and two counts of theft in the January attack on 68 year old Doris Lacefield. Prosecutors said James Lacefield went to his mother`s home to steal two of her vehicles to pay for crack cocaine. He attacked his mother and took her credit cards while in the home. She called 911 and sheriff`s deputies arrested her sons hours later.
