Catholic Workshop Teaches Acceptance of Homosexuals

The gay marriage debate sheds more light on a Christian workshop to teach acceptance of gays and lesbians. Catholic-based New Ways Ministries teaches people how to reach out to homosexuals. Organizers say they discuss some of the lesser-known Catholic church teachings, not just disapproval of the lifestyle. "It does encourage the church to do an outreach, a pastoral outreach to lesbian and gay people and it encourages the protection of civil and human rights for lesbian and gay people," explained Frank DeBernardo, who works with New Ways. The ministry says the church also condemns prejudice, discrimination and homophobia.
