Updated: January 7, 2009
What seemed to be a routine drug bust turned into a two day stand off in Searcy County that ended peacefully at about 7:00 Wednesday morning. State Police say events were set in motion when deputies with the Searcy County Sheriff`s Department discovered marijauna plants in the backyard of 42 year-old Tony Randall Altman of St. Joe. Officers say Altman resisted arrest and threatened to kill anyone who tried to arrest him. Altman continued resisting Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, even though police had his electricity and water shut off. Police say Altman was seen at his home with an AK-47 or similar weapon.
