Pulaski Co. Election Board In Search Of Young Blood

Updated: January 7, 2009
Commissioners are looking for some young blood to assist poll workers in this year`s general election. The average age of poll worker is 72. "The seniors are doing a fantastic job, but we feel that we probably need to have a better mix," said Election Chairman Jerry Larkowski. Some experts believe having younger people man the polls would reduce voting glitches as new technology is put into place. Last year, the state legislature approved a measure allowing high school and college students to work the polls for class credit. Pulaski County has about 900 poll workers responsible for manning 123 polling sites.
