Back to School Already?

A federal grant is making it possible to bring staff and 6th graders back to school a week earlier than the rest of the student body.
This gives them a chance to clear some big hurdles.
"It's a nice transition from 5th to 6th grade. We try to help them out so they won't be so intimidated by the 7th and 8th graders. We bring them back early, work on transitions and different things none academic, but enriching things, try to get them acclimated to the 6th grade, " says Willie Vinson, Cloverdale Principal
While it's a big benefit for kids, teachers are also laying the ground work for a successful first day of school, by getting the kids comfortable in their new surroundings and focused on class work, rather than trying to find class.
Make note, this is not happening district wide. It's only happening at Cloverdale Middle for 6th graders and 9th graders at both J.A. Fair and Hall High Schools.
