Updated: January 7, 2009
Ralph Nader supporters have submitted signatures for the presidential candidate to appear on the Arkansas ballot November Second. The Secretary of State`s Office told supporters that a presidential candidate can`t appear on the ballot in Arkansas as an independent and they would have to list Nader as some party`s candidate. Supporters had him listed as The Better Life party`s candidate. About one-thousand signatures were turned in. The Secretary of State`s Office will verify if the signatures are from registered Arkansas voters. Nader will need one-thousand voter signatures to get on the ballot. In the narrow 2000 race, Nader, then the Green Party presidential candidate, was blamed for taking votes away from Democrat Al Gore and contributing to Gore`s defeat.
