USS Razorback Could Be On The Move Soon

Updated: January 7, 2009
A test set for Friday will determine whether a World War Two-era submarine is ready to be towed up the Arkansas River to a dock at North Little Rock. The U-S-S Razorback submarine is to be the centerpiece of a maritime museum on the north bank of the river. But the sub, which was brought over from Turkey, has been moored at Rosedale, Mississippi. The vessel rides too low in the water to make the last leg of its voyage up the Arkansas River. Tugboat company workers are working to rig the sub to barges, which will lift it high enough out of the water for it to finish its voyage. If the sub passes tomorrow`s test, it could be underway Sunday for its final destination.
