Attorney General Mike Beebe issued a warning today against scam artists who offer to sign senior citizens up for fraudulent prescription drug programs. The reputable program, known as Patient Assistance Programs or PAPs, bring down the cost of medications. But Beebe said scam artists will offer to sign a patient up for a PAP, charging them as much as 75 dollars per month for prescriptions that are essentially free. Beebe said an Arkansas woman recently received a phone call from a salesman who offered cheaper drugs, wanted to charge an outrageous price and demanded bank account information over the phone. The case is pending in the attorney general`s office.
