FEDERAL AUTHORITIES SAY ARKANSAS- BASED ACXIOM CORPORATION IS THE VICTIM IN THE LARGEST COMPUTER DATA THEFT CASE IN HISTORY. FLORIDA BUSINESSMAN SCOTT LEVINE FACES A 144 COUNT INDICTMENT. U-S ATTORNEYS SAY LEVINE GAINED ACCESS TO ACXIOM`S COMPUTERS AND DOWNLOADED 8.2 MILLION GIGABITES OF DATA FROM APRIL OF 2002 UNTIL AUGUST OF 2003. OFFICIALS SAY THIS INVOLVES PERSONAL INFORMATION OF MILLIONS OF AXCIOM`S CUSTOMERS- BUT STRESS NONE OF THE DATA HAS BEEN USED IN CRIMINAL ACTIVITY. "there`s no evidence that credit card information has been misused, no identity theft, no fraud that immenated from that credit card information." ACXIOM OFFICIALS SAY THEY`RE GRATEFUL FOR THE WORK OF THE F-B-I - SECRET SERVICE AND INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE FOR THEIR SWIFT WORK IN BRINGING THE ACCUSED TO JUSTICE.
