Jail Overcrowding Leads to Man Handcuffed to Pole

A bail bondsman in Little Rock Handcuffed a wanted man to a pole outside the Pulaski County Detention Center because the facility was closed and not taking new inmates. BAIL BONDSMAN LARRY NORWOOD CAPTURED A WANTED MAN - AND HAD HIM IN CUSTODY ALL NIGHT. PATRICK CREDIT IS WANTED ON CHARGES OF FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM. "I just missed my court they came and got me and they tried to put me in jail and they wouldn`t take me." "The bailiff at court told us to bring him to the jail- we brought him t jail they refused him wo we don`t know what to do with him." NORWOOD DECIDED TO HANDCUFF CREDIT TO A POLE OUTSIDE THE JAIL- IN HOPES THE JAIL WOULD FIND ROOM FOR HIM. "This is bail bonds we have an inmate here we are going to leave on the pole.. leave on the pole?" THE TWO WAITED AND WAITED EVENTUALLY- JAIL ADMINISTRATOR SKIPPER POLK DEMANDED THE SUSPECT BE SET FREE. "Release him altogether. I don`t care what you do but you`re not going to chain him to this facility." WITH THAT- THE HANDCUFFS ARE OFF. "Patrick .. you`re free." AND THIS CONVICTED FELON WALKS AWAY. "It`s frustrating." "They`re turned around everyday a lot of time they get booked in and turned around and released." ¶POLK SAYS THE 1125 BED FACILITY IS FULL. "The reason we close our jail is to maintain constitutional facility that`s safe for inmates and our staff." HE STRESSES THAT THEY NEVER REFUSE TO ACCEPT VIOLENT OFFENDERS. "If a person steals something a minor crime in the large scheme of things we don`t have room they`re not going to jail."
