Arkansas` Democratic Delegates May Honor Boston Police Strike

The leader of Arkansas` Democratic Party plans to ask state Democratic National Convention delegates to honor picket lines if Boston police move forward with strike plans. Arkansas Democratic Party chairman Ron Oliver says he would ask Arkansas` 47 delegates not to cross picket lines at next week`s convention if a dispute between the city and the police union is unresolved before convention kickoff parties begin Sunday night. Oliver says labor is an important element of the Democratic Party and delegates need to be sensitive to the concerns of any picketers. At least eight members of Arkansas` delegation already have said they would not cross picket lines in support of the Boston Police Patrolmen`s Association, which has been without a contract for two years.
