Pine Bluff Neighbors Sounding Off

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Francis Pierson likes quiet places, but the grandmother of six doesn`t live in one. Less than a block from Pro Audio, a store that sells car sounds systems, Pierson says she can`t watch TV, talk on the phone, or even go to sleep without hearing the "thump-thump-thump" from the store. Pierson calls police, they give Pro Audio`s owner a citation, and he`s left with questions. "They give us a license to do this. Why would they give us a ticket for doing it?" asks Pro Audio`s Larry Tate. Alderman Jackie Kirby agrees and is pushing a proposal that would allow limited testing of sound systems. He says without it, everyone in Pine Bluff would miss out on another sound: the sound of money that comes with sales from local businesses-- no matter how loud they get.
