Sales Tax Revenues In Conway Higher Than Expected

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Sales tax revenues in Conway for the first six months of the year were 300,000 higher than the five million dollars the city had projected. Now, city officials are submitting proposals for how to spend the extra money. Some departments want to add employees and undertake projects that had previously been denied. Officials say a new shopping center appears to be the reason for the additional tax revenue. More retail developments, including a Target store and a Pier One, are to open in Conway. City officials say they can`t fully predict the impact but say they expect revenues to continue to rise.
