A police chase that began in West Memphis led to the deaths of two people when the suspects` vehicle crashed across the Mississippi River in Memphis, Tennessee. Police say the car sped away after a West Memphis officer tried to pull the vehicle over because the car had a burned-out headlight. Investigators in Memphis say there was an exchange of gunfire between the officer and the car, and then the car crashed into a house. Autopsies are being conducted on the suspects to determine whether they died from gunfire or the crash. Police say they believe the male driver was shot before impact. Names of the dead haven`t been released. Memphis police say they`ll turn the results of the investigation over to prosecutors.
