Saline County Will Get New Jail

Saline County voters have approved a sales tax increase to build a new jail. The measure will raise the Saline County sales tax by 3/8 of a percent to raise $8.5 million dollars. The tax will be in effect for three and one half years. The tax passed with 57% in favor and 43% opposed. Construction on the 180-bed jail will start in the fall.
