Three Saline County Deputies Plead Guilty To Bringing Beer Into Jail

Three former Saline County sheriff`s deputies pleaded guilty to charges that alleged they brought beer into the jail. The former deputies allegedly stole the money from the inmates` property accounts, drove to the county line to buy the beer, and then drank the beer at the jail with an inmate who was awaiting trial on a rape charge. Charged with furnishing prohibited articles into a jail, a felony, and with misdemeanor theft were 22-year-old John Hood, 21-year-old Christopher Daniel Carman and 32-year-old Todd McEuen. Carman pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charge. Each of the men pleaded guilty to the remaining counts. McEuen, who was a shift supervisor, was sentenced to 30 days in jail, five years probation and a ten-thousand dollar fine. Carman and Hood were each sentenced to ten days in jail, three years probation and fines of five-thousand dollars. The three appeared today before Circuit Judge Grisham Phillips. The incident occurred on October eighth, 2003.
