NLR Police And Fire Have New Mobile Public Safety Command Center

Updated: January 7, 2009
The North Little Rock Police and Fire departments have joined forces to create a mobile public safety command center aboard a single vehicle. The city is calling the truck "Command One." It will help the two departments work together more efficiently to handle crises or situations that require responses from both. The forty-foot vehicle has computers, telephones, radios, a full weather station and a mast-mounted television camera. Assistant Fire Chief Robert Mauldin and police Lieutenant John Breckon worked together with Barber Specialty Vehicles of Columbus, Ohio, for more than a year to design "Command One" to fit their needs.
