A Ouachita Baptist University education major who sang "Happy Days Are Here Again" in the talent competition was crowned Miss Arkansas Saturday night. Lacy Fleming, 22 of Hampton, won a twelve-thousand-dollar scholarship and more than fifty-thousand-dollars in gifts ranging from transportation to wardrobe. Fleming won the title competing as Miss Ouachita Baptist University. Her platform was child abuse awareness. She will represent Arkansas Sept. 18 at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Last year, Fleming was the third runner-up at the Miss Arkansas Pageant when she competed as Miss South Arkansas. Fleming will graduate from Ouachita Baptist in August and plans a career in child psychology. The first runner-up and winner of an eight-thousand-dollar scholarship was Meredith Buelow, Miss Texarkana. Katie Bailey, Miss Lake Dardanelle, was second-runner up and winner of a seven-thousand-dollar scholarship.
