Taekwondo Good Business For Little Rock

Cash registers at downtown businesses rang louder than normal Saturday, thanks to the American Taekwondo Association. Attendees hit restaurants with a vengeance during the World Championship Tournament held in the Capital City. "It has always been busy, but I think this year is quite a bit busier," said Bo Allen, manager of the Coconut Bay Cafe. "I made $2,000 more this weekend." Families also flocked to the Flying Saucer, a bar/restaurant located in the River Market. All week long, there were wall-to-wall patrons, says Owner Patrick McCrackin. "We get a lot of families that come in here for dinner," he said. "Today is just an exaggerated version of that because of all the activity at the Convention Center." More than 25,000 spectators and participants came to Little Rock for the event. The championship is expected to have an economic impact of $5 million in direct expenditures.
