State Computer System Won`t Shut Down Even If Deadline Is Not Met

Attorney General Mike Beebe says today that
a judge won`t shut down the state`s automated information system,
even if a July deadline to make it accessible to blind workers is
not met.
Beebe said Pulaski County Circuit Judge Collins Kilgore will
allow critical parts of the computer system known as AASIS to keep operating because he modified his original order yesterday.
Kilgore originally said he would pull the plug on AASIS if the
state didn`t fix the problem.
He made the ruling in response to a lawsuit filed by blind state
employees. The state, in turn, has sued AASIS creator SAP for
failing to rectify the problem.
