Bill Clinton`s "My Life" Hits Store Shelves

Sales of Bill Clinton`s new book are soaring in central Arkansas. After staying open late, Monday night, stores were still busy on Tuesday, selling the book. No matter where in the store you look, "My Life" is there. The Books-A-Million store manager in North Little Rock says they`ve had a steady stream of customers all day long. People lined the aisles of Little Rock bookstores Monday night to get their hands on a copy of Bill Clinton`s memoirs, some of them several copies. Tuesday was no different. Even in New York, the sidewalk was crowded with people waiting, some as early as 4:30 a.m., for the man himself to sign their copies. Fans say they`re interested in reading what Clinton says about his life and his controversial years in the White House. "I`ve followed him every since he ran for Attorney General, I worked on his campaign where he ran for the president the first time," said Daisy Lognin. But readers who don`t feel like turning Clinton`s 952 pages can pick up the audio book, where Clinton himself reads the book aloud. And to sell copies of either, bookstores say they`re keeping the displays stocked. "It was about 8 stacks deep, now it`s like 5," said Candace Spurlin at Books-A-Million. "We sold about 1/2 of those have some mailed out to people around the state," said Jean Cockcroft, at Wordsworth Books and Company, about the pre-order sales they made. Books-A-Million says they`re receiving more shipments everyday. Wordsworth says they sold about 100 books last night, more than 300 on pre-order sales, and received another shipment today of over 100. Clinton will be in Little Rock to sign copies of the book on July 30, at the Statehouse Convention Center. The exact time is to be announced.
