State police found nearly half a ton of
marijuana in a horse trailer on Interstate 40 in Forrest City.
Troopers pulled over Jason Bradley Boykin of Avalon, Texas, for
weaving across the highway. When he refused a search, a police dog
alerted police to drugs in the horse trailer Boykin was hauling.
Police not only found 970 pounds of pot, but also a horse with
injuries to its right front leg and between the eyes.
Boykin later tried to throw away a methamphetamine pipe at
police headquarters. He was arrested on charges of possession with
intent to deliver, possession, driving with a suspended license,
drug paraphernalia, improper lane use and animal cruelty.
