Arkansas Attorney General Mike Beebe says it would be a mistake to take funding from colleges and universities in order to pump more money into kindergarten through high school education.
The state is under an order from the Arkansas Supreme Court to improve the public schools.
Beebe told members of the Fayetteville Rotary Club that higher
education brings economic interests to the state and is necessary for progress.
Beebe said that Arkansans concerned with continuing a quality higher-education system should talk to their legislators because there are few advocates for higher education in the General Assembly.
