PB Weed & Seed To Get Federal Grant

Updated: January 7, 2009
Pine Bluff`s Weed and Seed Program is slated to receive $175,000 from the U.S Department Of Justice. The money will be split between the program and local law enforcement. Weed & Seed, a program that "weeds out crime" through neighborhood policing, is cited as the reason for Pine Bluff`s record-low crime rates. "Residents are pleased about that because they want crime gone from their neighborhood," says Rev. Jesse Turner, the program`s coordinator. Turner`s program has been so successful he`s consulting with leaders in other cities.
