AR Researcher Calls For Cell Stem Research

Updated: January 7, 2009
Dr Sue Griffin, a researcher with the Reynolds Center On Aging, is calling for the Bush Administration to lift the restriction on stem cell research. "It should not be banned, it should not be limited, it should remain unfettered," said Griffin. Griffin, who just returned from an Alzheimers conference in Chicago, says 635 grants relating to the treatment of the disease were reviewed. 60 were funded. "For people who are not scientists to make the kinds of rules that apply to science is a mistake," she said. 14 republicans senators signed a letter of support for stem cell research in the wake of Ronald Reagan`s death. Nancy Reagan has also called for similar measures.
