Governor Huckabee has recommended four projects in Arkansas for funding through the Delta Regional Authority. The authority, based in Clarksdale, Mississippi, distributes federal funding for economic development projects in eight states. Arkansas was allocated 565-thousand-71 dollars for projects this year. The governor recommended that the money be distributed in this way: --150-thousand dollars to the city of Marion for infrastructure improvements, where Hino Motors of Japan will build a plant to make truck parts. --157-thousand dollars to the city of Newport to help construct a rail spur and access road to the Jackson County Industrial Complex. --Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas would get 182 thousand dollars for personnel and equipment for the War Memorial Training Center at Stuttgart. --East Arkansas Enterprise Community at Forrest City would get 75 thousand dollars to purchase equipment for the group`s Rural Business Development Center. The authority board will make a final decision later this year.
