Richardson Closing Arguments This Friday

Updated: January 7, 2009
Lawyers in former Arkansas basketball coach Nolan Richardson`s discrimination lawsuit have until Friday to prepare their closing arguments. Testimony ended last week in the trial, in which Richardson said he was unjustly fired from his job. The ex-coach claimed he was discriminated against because he is black and claimed that his free speech rights were violated. The university says it released Richardson because the coach publicly called for his contract to be bought out. Written arguments in the case are due tomorrow to U-S District Judge William R- Wilson. The case is not being heard before a jury. Wilson says he will need time to make a decision and said he does not expect to issue a decision on Friday.
