Saline County Deputies are investigating a Humane Society worker for seizing animals without a warrant.
Patricia Meredith, an investigator for the Saline County Humane Society, took a horse and donkey away from a Benton woman last month after receiving a tip alleging abuse and neglect.
The Pulaski County Humane Society says she broke the law.
"Anyone working for the Humane Society must have a warrant before seizing any animals," says Kay Jordan, director of the PC Humane Society.
The only exception, says Jordan, is if the animals are near death and even then, "you must have a veterinarian with you to verify their condition."
Saline County deputies are working to return the animals to their original owner. They say say Meredith could face criminal charges.
