State Investigates Jefferson County Clerk

The state is investigating the Jefferson County clerk`s office after the Division of Legislative Audit found irregularities. Faulkner County Prosecuting Attorney H.G. Foster was assigned the investigation after Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney Stevan Dalrymple recused himself because of a conflict of interest. Foster said he`ll decide in the next few weeks if criminal charges are necessary. Jeneatte Hence has been clerk in the county since 1995. She is running unopposed for the post. The documents under review are from 2002 and into 2003. The findings of the audit have not been released to the public.
