Owners of night clubs in Pine Bluff want the
city to reconsider a rule prohibiting off-duty police officers from
working security in club parking lots. Police Chief Daniel Moses
adopted the rule more than a year ago. The recent shooting death of
a man in a club parking lot has club owners questioning the police
chief`s decision. Moses has said that having his officers work for
nightclubs represents a conflict of interest and puts them in
danger. Club owners disagree, saying professional security is the
only way a large, profitable nightclub can survive in Pine Bluff.
They say private security guards do not have the same clout as
police officers.
