Girl with Service Dog Turned Away from Movies

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Doctors don`t expect Danielle Lindbom to live past thirty, but her mom says she`ll make the time she has left as normal as possible. Helping her achieve that goal is a supportive family-- which includes a special sister. Her name is Duchess and she`s a 140-pound Great Dane. She`s Danielle`s service dog, and under the American`s with Disabilities Act, Duchess and Danielle are allowed in all public places. Danielle`s mom says Duchess was barred from a Searcy movie theater. The girl still made it in to see the movie, but because she didn`t have Duchess with her, she got away and was later found talking to a stranger. (Danielle has behavioral problems brought on by two disabilities, and Duchess helps calm her down.) The theater`s owner apologizes and admits a mistake was made. He`s offering free tickets, food and a spot for Duchess. Danielle`s mom wonders why it had to come to this in the first place.
