breaking news
Five minutes may not seem like very much, but anti-drug advocates say it may be just enough time to keep your child away from life-threatening substances. This Wednesday parents are encouraged to "take 5" and talk to their kids about drugs and alcohol. Kids in the Little Rock and North Little Rock school districts will be sent home with booklets that parents can use to guide them through the discussions. The booklets also include a card for parents to sign, showing that they pledge to have the talk. Dave Hoffpauir developed the program last year when he was the director of Arkansans for Drug Free Youth. It targets 5 year olds and 5th graders because Hoffpauir says these are the ages when kids are most open to the message.
