Updated: January 7, 2009
Arkansans in Congress say $855,000 dollars has been released by the federal Transportation Department to begin work on two projects in Central Arkansas. One of the projects is to improve traffic flow at the intersection of Interstates 630 and 430 in west Little Rock. The other, called the Rock Island Parkway, is an effort to acquire and preserve an abandoned railroad right-of-way corridor parallel to Interstate 30, between Little Rock and Benton. The announcement was made today by Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, and Congressman Vic Snyder, whose district includes Pulaski County. The I-630-430 interchange project is to get almost $464,000 of the money, while the Rock Island Parkway is to get $391,000.
