Arkansas Faces More Rain This Weekend

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Between two and three more inches of rain are expected in Arkansas this weekend, expected to further saturate already flooded areas of the state. The storms that moved through Arkansas earlier this week have prompted two northern counties to declare emergencies because of flooding. The state Department of Emergency Management said Franklin and Washington counties will be eligible for state assistance after they are approved. Heavy storms deluged parts of Arkansas and spawned at least one tornado. National Weather Service forecasters sent a survey team to southwest Washington County yesterday to investigate the reported tornado. Forecasters said the tornado apparently touched down near Morrow and moved east toward West Fork, damaging some trees and a chicken house.
