Monticello law enforcement officials say they
need help dealing with the mounds of paperwork and the expected
number of victims in the case of a used-car dealer accused of
defrauding customers.
A police lieutenant says nobody involved has ever had a case
with so many victims. The prosecutor wants help from the attorney
general`s office and police are trying to enlist a forensic
accountant from the National White Collar Crime Center.
Rick Funderburg, owner of Rick`s Auto Outlet, faces more than
120 felony charges. He is accused of defaulting on the liens of
cars used as trade-ins, not paying wholesalers for cars he sold and
selling vehicles still subject to claim by Union Bank and Trust Co.
