By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
A new national survey shows 70 percent of parents think their kids would know what to do at home in case of fire. But the same poll commissioned by the Kidde National Safety Report also shows that almost 63 percent of families have never done a home dire drill. Experts say it`s a crucial home safety step. Little Rock fire marshal Sammy Baker has these tips for creating a home fire escape plan: -sit in your living room -map out routes through your home leading from all bedrooms -time the route that`s the quickest -investigate all windows -make sure windows can open from the inside and aren`t painted shut -unblock routes to doors -equip second floor rooms with rope ladders -double check all smoke detector batteries -practice your home escape routes often
