A northeast Arkansas school superintendent was suspended less than a week after his scuffle with a broadcaster. The Newport School Board voted unanimously to suspended Superintendent Floyd Marshall with pay for an altercation with David Black. Black co-owns a local cable access channel. The panel yesterday appointed Nathan Barber acting superintendent. The scuffle broke out during a 40-minute meeting last Wednesday between the superintendent and Newport media. The school had proposed forbidding media announcers to criticize officials, coaches or players during athletic events. The discussion evolved into a scuffle.
