Juvenile Detention Facility Improvements On Schedule

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
State Division of Youth Services officials say improvements to the juvenile lockup at Alexander are coming along on schedule. The center is under an agreement with federal officials to improve conditions. Among deficiencies cited earlier were gaps in mental health care, education and other areas. The problems were identified after an investigation that followed two suicides in the lockup by juvenile detainees. The center has been run by a private company since September 2001.
