A federal court office monitoring how the
Little Rock School District promotes equal opportunities for
minority students filed a report today criticizing some of the
district`s self-evaluations.
The school district two weeks ago asked for a complete release
from court supervision, saying it had met requirements to improve
and monitor achievement among black students.
The Office of Desegregation Monitoring report does not directly
challenge the district`s request, but it does say several recent
evaluations of district programs were inadequate.
The report said it seems the district merely rewrote evaluations
that were submitted in a 2001 report.
A federal judge will have a hearing next month on whether the
district sufficiently complied with evaluation requirements.
