Update: Standoff In The Ozarks

Updated: January 7, 2009
Just three officers are remaining in Alread, the site of a week-long search for two fugitives in the densely wooded Ozark Mountains. The search for 49-year-old Mark Holsombach and 28-year-old William Frazier began eight days ago after a shootout with police at the men`s homemade log cabin near Alread. Police initially wanted the men for questioning in the disappearance of their neighbors. Van Buren County Sheriff Scott Bradley said police don`t know if the men are still in the county or if they`ve left. Bradley said he feels there`s a 70 percent chance the fugitives are still there. Two deputies remained in Alread today at a command post set up after the search, and a third deputy was stationed at the school. Classes resumed today after being canceled last week.
