No Pearls In These Oysters: A 4 Your Health Warning

The Arkansas Health Department is passing along a warning about raw oysters. The department notes that the Food and Drug Administration has issued an advisory that people with liver disease or weakened immune systems are at high risk of getting a bacterial infection when they eat raw oysters. Health officials say the infection in a healthy person can cause mild stomach or intestinal pain. But in a person with liver disease or a weakened immune system, the infection can be deadly. Health officials advise those people in the high risk category that if they eat oysters, only eat them cooked. Posted by Mike Hellgren
