Acxiom May Lay Off Employees

Updated: January 7, 2009
Arkansas-based Acxiom Corporation is laying off a number of workers this week. A source tells The Associated Press today that the changes are coming as the company adjusts to recent acquisitions and accounts for changes in the economy. The source says the layoffs began last week and could continue into next week. The number of workers involved was said to be less than 500. The company has 4,500 employees in Arkansas and another thousand worldwide. Acxiom said it would not respond to what it called rumors. It also would not say today whether it had any layoffs planned. In 2001, the company laid off about seven percent of its workforce.
