State police say two men involved in a gunfight and presumed standoff with officers near Alread today say the pair have escaped the hut the men were thought to be hiding. Sergeant Pete Westerman says the men may have slipped away after the shooting early this morning. Officers wanted to question the men about the disappearance of a Van Buren county couple who remain missing. Westerfield says the suspects may still be in the area. Officers were trying to serve a warrant on 49-year-old Mark Holsombach and 28-year-old William J- Frazier when the shooting began. A state trooper suffered minor wounds. Police and agents from the FBI and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives surrounded what state police call a "compound-home" in a mountain area near Alread. Westerfield says it was unclear how the men got away despite a ring of officers surrounding the compound. The missing couple are 46-year-old Theodore R- Throneberry and his wife, 45-year-old Ann Ryberg Throneberry. ----- Trooper Charlie Edmonson suffered a wound to his left arm.
