Debt Deal Failure Could Stop Social Security Checks

The checks may not be in the mail next month for Social Security recipients if no debt deal is reached.

President Obama tells CBS News he can't guarantee checks will go out August 3rd if the issue of the nation's debt and deficit aren't resolved.

Lawmakers face an August 2nd deadline to raise the nation's more than 14-trillion-dollar borrowing limit.

Failure to do so could cause the U.S. government to default.
