Clinton Birthplace Making Money

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The Bill Clinton Birthplace in Hope reported its first noticeable uptick in donations and revenues in years. Tax documents obtained by The Associated Press show that in 2002-2003, the foundation running the birthplace in Hope nearly doubled annual donations. The amount jumped from more than 39-thousand dollars to more than 77-thousand dollars. The birthplace museum and visitors center has struggled the past several years in the shadow of the 160 (m) million dollar Clinton Presidential Library project in Little Rock. I-R-S documents show the nonprofit Clinton Birthplace Foundation is still losing money, with expenses outpacing revenues by almost 51-thousand dollars last year. But its three main sources of revenue -- donations, five-dollar-a-person visitors fees and gift-store sales -- are the largest in seven years. Posted by Mike Hellgren
