Free Tuition For National Guard Members?

The Arkansas National Guard says it is entering into an agreement with the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith to allow soldiers to attend the school without paying tuition. Officials from the guard and the university were to sign documents tomorrow to put the program into effect. Major General Don Morrow, adjutant general for Arkansas, says the guard is pleased to receives the support for the state`s soldiers and airmen. Under a Defense Department program, 75 percent of tuition costs for service members are picked up. The agreement will have U-A Fort Smith pick up the remaining 25 percent, the guard said. A bill passed by the Legislature enabled the school to provide the subsidy. Posted by Mike Hellgren
